Coaching and editing are part of a continuum. Coaching begins earlier, and focuses on helping the writer generate a rough draft. As a coach, I am a guide and sounding board, providing the writer with structure, deadlines, context, support, and experienced feedback at key points along the way.
All writers, beginning and established, need objective and informed feedback to create their best work. I challenge my clients to tell a strong story, make a focused argument, find a clear voice, and work toward discovering a way to get “under the skin” of the material. That’s where originality of expression lies—in unexpected leaps and associations that spark the imagination.

I provide an estimate for each project based on an initial
discussion with the writer.
Having worked both as a literary agent and as a book editor at Random House, I bring to writers a clear understanding of the book industry. I understand how agents work, and how an editor at a publishing house decides to publish a book. I understand the basics of self-publishing and its pros and cons, and I am working all the time to stay current on literary presses, contests, journals, programs and workshops. Although I no longer represent writers as an agent, I can guide writers through the entire publishing process.
